An Item/Appearance concerns a formally registered Standard Form in which the Item can appear. For example an Order Point is kept for an Item/Appearance.
Pay attention to the difference with the Appearance of an Item: The Appearance of an Item does not need to be registered formally. Thus this does not concern a Standard Form ((f.e.) no Order Point is kept).
One certain kind of Liquid can appear in for example a 10 Litre Can, but also in a 25 Litre Can or a 500 Litre Tank. It concerns the same Item everytime.
In the same way there can be a Demand for a Liquid in a certain Appearance Form, for example by selling the Liquid in 10 Litre Cans and, at the same time there can be a Demand for Liquid irrespective of the Appearance Form, for example as Semi Finished Product for Production.
One certain Bar of Iron can appear at 6 Metres, however, could also appear at 4 Metres; if 2 Metres is sawed off the 6 Metre Bar, the Bar -with everytime the same Item Number- will appear at 4 Metres and 2 Metres. If there is still more Stock of 6 Metre Bars, the Item will also still appear at 6 Metres.
If Bars of both 4 Metres and 6 Metres are kept as Stock Material, the Appearance "4 Metres" (for example) will have an Order Point and the Appearance "6 Metres" will have another Order Point. To be able to register this a formal Item/Appearance is to be created from the Bar and the Appearance Form "4-" respectively "6 Metres". Of the total Demand a Puchase might follow for an Appearance of 10 Metres, where the starting point is that after Goods Receipt the Appearances of 10 Metres are to be sawed (Transform Order) into Appearances of 4- and 6 Metres.
